Lionlink consultation

LionLink will be the first electricitylink of its kind between Great Britainand the Netherlands enabling thecross-border flow of electricityand the direct connection to Dutchoffshore wind . 

Based on the feedback received at thenon-statutory consultation, National Grid Ventures havecarried out additional environmentaland technical assessments aspart of the options refinementprocess. These assessments haveidentified an alternative corridor forthe underground onshore cable tothe north of Southwold, which mayreduce impacts on designated sites ofecological importance. They have alsoidentified an alternative landfall siteat Walberswick, which could reduceaccess constraints and traffic impacts.Following the identification of analternative Southwold cable corridorand Walberswick landfall site, theywill be holding a supplementarynon-statutory consultation to enablestakeholders and local communitiesto provide their feedback on theseoptions. This consultation will runfrom Friday 8 September to Friday 3November 2023.
